Click + Create New Site (from the dashboard or Quick Actions) to open the site creation form.
Site Details
Fill in the basic information for your new site:
- Site Name — the name of your school website (e.g.,
herriotschool). This also determines your default subdomain URL. - Description — a short description of your school website
- Domain — your site’s URL is automatically generated as
sitename.sprintup.education. You can customize this by clicking Configure domain (see below).
Click Create Site to finalize, or Cancel to discard.
Configuring Your Domain
Clicking Configure domain opens the domain setup dialog. You have three options:
Option 1 — Buy / Use Your Own Domain
Purchase a brand-new custom domain directly through SprintUp (e.g., yourschool.com).
- Enter the domain name you want in the Domain to check field
- Click Check — SprintUp will verify if the domain is available
- If available, you’ll see a “Domain is available” confirmation in green, along with:
- Billing period — choose 1 year, 2 years, or 3 years
- Domain price — the cost displayed in USD for the selected period (e.g., 11.98 USD for 1 year)
- Click Use this domain to proceed to the Domain Customer Information form
The Domain Customer Information form requires:
- Name — First and Last name
- Phone — Country Code, Area Code, and Number
- Address — Street, City, Zipcode, and Country
This information is required for domain registration and is submitted to the domain registrar.
Option 2 — Add a School Subdomain
Use a free subdomain under sprintup.education (e.g., herriotschool.sprintup.education). This is the default option and requires no purchase — your subdomain is automatically generated from your site name.
Select this option if you don’t need a custom domain and want to get online quickly at no extra cost.
Option 3 — Use an Existing Domain
Connect a domain you have already purchased and added to your SprintUp account. Select this option to pick from your registered domains listed under My Domains on the dashboard.
Click Close to dismiss the dialog without making changes.
Editing Your Website
Once a site is created, open it to launch the Editor Panel — a drag-and-drop website builder with a live preview of your page.
Editor Layout
The editor is divided into three areas:
- Left panel — Components: a library of pre-built sections you can drag onto your page
- Center — Canvas: a live editable preview of your website. Click any element to select and edit it.
- Right panel — Properties: shows the settings for the currently selected element. When nothing is selected, it displays “No Element Selected — Click on any element in your page to edit its properties.”
At the top of the editor:
- Page tabs — navigate between pages (e.g., Home, Our Products, Contact). Click + to add a new page.
- View toggles — switch between desktop, tablet, and mobile preview
- Preview — open a full preview of your site as visitors will see it
- Design — access global design settings (fonts, colors, spacing)
- Footer settings — configure the site-wide footer
- Back to sites — return to the sites list without losing your work
Components Library
The left panel organizes available components into tabs:
- Recommended — the most useful components for school websites
- Content — text-based sections
- Media — image and video sections
- School — education-specific components
Available components include (among others):
| Component | Description | Difficulty |
|---|---|---|
| Hero Banner | Main banner with title and image | Easy |
| Heading | Section title | Easy |
| Features Grid | Grid of features or programs | Easy |
| Call to Action | CTA section with title and description | Easy |
| Products Grid | Display products from your school | Easy |
| Animated Carousel | Interactive carousel with slides | Medium |
Drag any component from the left panel and drop it onto the canvas to add it to your page. Click on a placed component to edit its content and properties in the right panel.
